Thank you for considering to volunteer!

Dog Walker

Volunteers are the lifeblood of VKB. Alongside the generous private donations that allow us to operate, we would not be able to accomplish what we do without the dedication, time, and energy of our volunteers. Currently, we are looking to expand our team of volunteers. 

A few things to note:

 

  • As a general rule, all shelter volunteers must be 18 years of age, or given parental consent

  • All volunteers must sign a waiver and be aware that VKB provides homes to dogs who would otherwise be euthanised, which means some of the dogs at the shelter are highly reactive dogs and/or have complex histories. For this reason, small children are not allowed. 


While we need help in multiple departments, we are specifically looking for individuals who could help us with the below:  

Transportation
Transportation missions, if you will, will include collecting and delivering donations, vet runs, and sometimes the collection of rescue animals. If you have a car and are available to occasionally help out as available, we will add you to a WhatsApp group that will announce when there is a task needed. We share this job with many so the task is spread wide and the responsibility does not fall on only a few people. 

Admin
We have a lot of dogs to keep track of, so we need an organised self-starter, to help us with some paperwork. It's a few hours a week and managed by a team leader. 

Accounting Advice
VKB needs a seasoned accountant who can occasionally offer us advice, to ensure we are doing everything as cost-effective and straightforward as possible.

Kennel Volunteers
We need volunteers who can join our kennel team and walk dogs, bathe dogs, and clean kennels and food bowls. Shifts last around 4-5 hours and occur every day of the year, rain or shine. Whether you can join us once a month, once a week, or daily, we would love to have your help. 

Translation
If you are bi-lingual and available to translate social media posts and fundraising materials, we will add you to a WhatsApp group and announce when a translation is needed. If you are available to help, you can step forward then. We share this task with many, so the job is spread wide and does not fall on only a few people.

TEAM BUILDING AND GROUP VOLUNTEERING - VKB COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM
 

Do you represent a business, school or group that wants to give back to shelter dogs in Hong Kong?  Want a team-building experience that helps pets in need? VKB’s Community Outreach program is a great way for groups to give back by engaging in hands-on and impactful projects at our facility, that truly show the hard work that goes into animal rescue work locally.


Your company’s financial contribution will help cover the resources needed to host groups, as well as help us to continue providing vaccinations, desexing operations, preventative medications, veterinary attention, food and supplies to the animals in our care. As a private, volunteer-operated organization we depend on the generosity of our community to carry out our mission. The funds generated through these volunteer experiences directly support our life-saving work.
 

BENEFITS AND WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • One on-site group volunteer teambuilding opportunity for up to 10 team members.

  • Introduction to VKB and tour of our facility.

  • A hands-on volunteer project (activities may include creating enrichment toys and treats, deep-cleaning, dog walking, property/trail maintenance, donation item sorting and organizing).

  • Time to socialize with suitable dogs that will benefit from your group’s work.

  • Social media shout-out with a group photo and company tag thanking the group on our platforms that have more than 10k followers.


PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • We can accommodate a group of 10 people per shift

  • The fee for groups is HKD 1000 per person (exceptions can be made for nonprofit organisations and Scouts).

  • Group days are held from 10 am-2 pm.

  • If your group is larger than 10, it may still be possible to accommodate you. Please contact us.

  • All group participants must be at least 18 years of age and must be willing to sign a liability and photography waiver.
